Dressing up your bed like a designer may be the last thing on your mind as you may be juggling between work, family, workouts and other things you are interested in. However, there are perks to dressing your bed. Such as coming home to a full and fluffy well-designed bed that draws you into a mood of relaxation and rest. Or just simply enjoying the sight of your bedroom with a well dressed bed as the centre-piece. Whatever the reasons, we share 5 ways to make your bed like a pro. Trust us, it isn’t that hard.
The simplest way to first dress your bed is to put on a luxe bed sheet on your mattress. If you have time, iron your sheets. If you have no time, you can easily purchase Sateen or Lyocell fitted bed sheets. Lyocell or TENCEL™ is wrinkle resistant and looks naturally luxurious with its silky feel and look. Cotton Sateen on the other hand is more wrinkle resistant than percale cotton. Bedding Affairs’ fitted sheets can fit a mattress up to 40cm in height and allows the sheets to fit snugly over the edge of the mattress making it easy to dress.
Though a top sheet is not a common bedding item in Singapore, you may find it adorning hotel beds on your travels. It is a flat sheet placed on top of your fitted sheet and under your quilt or duvet. The bed occupant slips under the top sheet when he or she goes to bed. The practicality of a top sheet is to prevent dirtying the duvet, since it is much harder to wash than a top sheet. From an aesthetic point of view, the top sheet adds layering to your bedding. The top sheet is pulled to the top of the bed and then folded over the top of the duvet.
The next thing to add on your bed would be a duvet. You can choose to mix and match your duvet cover with the colour of your fitted sheets. Or you can choose a patterned duvet cover to match it with white pillow and fitted bed sheets.
Remember how hotel beds are decorated at the headboard with king-sized, standard and Euro sham pillows? Euro sham is a decorative pillow case. Choose a design that brings focus and elegance to the bed. Check out Bedding Affairs’ Euro Sham designs.
Last but not least, layer the front of the bed with pillows. Depending on the size of your bed, you can line the headboard first with large king-size pillows. You can place our Luxe euro standard pillows in front of the large king-size pillows and finally add the Euro sham pillows in front.
